Whilst I’m busy working my socks off making all the Creative Scotland Crowdfunder orders I thought I’d share these makes, Inspired by the year of Coast & Waters, for the exhibition “Into The Light” in the Maclaurin Art Galleries. I’m delighted to have my work appear along side some extremely talented Ayrshire artists and makers!
(Yellow and Black) envelope crossbody bag and purse with belt clip both made with black vegetable tanned leather and Icelandic Salmon leather
(Blue and Black) envelope clutch made with black vegetable tanned leather and Icelandicwolf fish vegetable tanned leather.
(Grey) Icelandic Salmon leather version of the Marianne tote & purse (with belt clip). The grey leathers appearance changes with wear and will patina beautiful and uniquely to its owner. It reminds me of shark skin.
Salmon and Wolf fish leather are almost my absolute favourites to work with! They were sourced on a trip to Iceland in February. Did you know that wolf fish is the only fish leather with a smooth surface. Fish leather is incredibly environmentally friendly as it’s a bi-product of the fishing industry whilst also tanned using hydro and geothermal energy.
You can find all these for sale in the Maclaurin Art Galleries “into the light” exhibition opening 21st October.
